🌱 SAISD Teacher Career Fair + Grants For SA Artists & Arts Nonprofits

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in San Antonio.

Today is Independence Day and as many of you, I will be celebrating our nation along with family. For that reason, I will not be writing today during the holiday, so you will not have a daily newsletter in your inbox tomorrow — Tuesday, July 5 — but I will be back with you bright and early on Wednesday morning! Happy 4th of July!

First, today's weather:

Warm; breezy in the afternoon. High: 100 Low: 76.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in San Antonio who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our San Antonio Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:

  1. The San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) will be holding a Teacher Career Fair on Thursday, July 14, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Brackenridge High School, located at 400 Eagleland Drive. 2. From now until Friday, July 29, San Antonio artists and arts nonprofits can apply for "recovery grants funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)." The grants to be distributed by the ARPA 4 Arts Grant Program to artists and arts nonprofits "who were disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic" total $4 million for San Antonio arts nonprofits and $1 million for San Antonio artists. Individual artists who apply may be eligible "to receive up to $7,500" each, and "eligible arts nonprofits will be granted based on budget size and the communities they serve." For complete details and requirements visit www.SanAntonio.gov/arts and: (Press Release Desk)
  3. On Sunday, July 3, a San Antonio teen was "shot three times" during a drive-by shooting around 2 a.m. on the west side of San Antonio. According to police, the" teen was sitting in a vehicle at the intersection" of SW 36th Street and Castroville, "when another vehicle pulled up and opened fire." Fortunately, the teen survived and is recovering at the hospital. (KENS5.com)
  4. Now that summer is here, it's time to cool off with "a nice, cold pint" of beer; and San Antonio is the perfect place to do that! With "more than 15 local breweries" in the Alamo City, "there are more than enough beers to satiate any palate!" For a list with details of "10 San Antonio beers...to fight the summertime heat," please visit: (mySA)
  5. "A Texas redheaded centipede recently made an appearance in San Antonio! San Antonian "Bleric" on Reddit posted, "Woke up this morning next to this creature from hell," and shared "a 30-second video of the creepy crawler lounging on his bed." This type of centipede is normally "found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico" and "is the largest centipede in North America, with an average length of 6.5 inches, reaching up to 8 inches."
