SAN ANTONIO (May 8, 2020) – After successfully placing more than 1500 pets over the last month, Animal Care Services is hoping to find homes for even more dogs and cats with support from the BISSELL Pet Foundation. The philanthropic organization is hosting Empty the Shelters event in at the San Antonio shelter Saturday, May 9th through Sunday, May 17th with reduced adoption fees of $15 for dogs and $5 for cats. All adoptions are by appointment only and social distancing guidelines, including the use of face masks or coverings on campus, are required. Adopters can get started before even coming in by using ACS’ new online resources:
- Check out the shelter’s dog and cats: saacs.info/petsearch
- Make an appointment for meet and greets or adoption: saacs.info/adopt
ACS will open additional appointments throughout the event to accommodate prospective pet parents. Those unable to adopt are urged to foster through ACS or support the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s upcoming virtual walkathon, Walktail, “the Best DOG-GONE Walk in the Country.” This event will raise critical funds for animal shelters throughout the country due to the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
