Last Wednesday, your Chamber held our August Cybersecurity Council meeting, which was hosted by the National Security Collaboration Center at UTSA. The meeting was a great opportunity to catch up with several members who were able to make it in person, and we had a strong showing on our virtual platform as well. The NSCC provided an update on their activities this fall and a look ahead to their plans for the spring semester. The Council also heard from Regan Hales, a new member from Align Business Services, about what Align can provide to cybersecurity-related companies in the region. She presented a great outline of how Align compliments more traditional venture capital attraction efforts and expands options for tech businesses in San Antonio.

In the coming months, the Cybersecurity Council will address tough issues surrounding the cybersecurity workforce in conjunction with the Chamber’s Education and Workforce Council. In December, the Cybersecurity Council will continue with the tradition of meeting with the Military Affairs Council to assess where San Antonio is in relation to military cybersecurity missions and how to build local capacity to fully support them. It will be a strong finish to a great year of improving the cybersecurity industry for San Antonio.
