Representative Leo Pacheco stepped down from his seat in the Texas House on August 19, 2021, to begin work with San Antonio College. The former state representative’s resignation spurred the need for a special election. Governor Greg Abbott announced that the special election for Texas House District 118 will be held on Tuesday, September 28, with early voting to begin Monday, September 20, 2021.Β

Several candidates have filed for a spot on the ballot. Candidates include:Β 

  • John Lujan (R)
  • Adam Salyer (R)
  • Frank Ramirez (D)
  • Katie Farias (D)
  • Desi Martinez (D)Β 

Your Chamber is partnering with the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, and the South & West Chamber of Commerce to host a candidate forum for the HD 118 Special Election on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 10 a.m. The forum is an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates and learn how they intend to listen to and support the San Antonio business community. While the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce does not endorse any candidate, we do recognize the important role our elected officials play in shaping a business-friendly environment. Β
