SAN ANTONIO (July 30, 2021) – After a national search, City Manager Erik Walsh announced on Tuesday appointment of Michael Ramsey as the Executive Director of the Workforce Development Office of the City of San Antonio.
“I’m glad to welcome Michael to the City of San Antonio team to spearhead our workforce efforts. This office will be focused on fostering collaboration between employers, partner agencies and residents for the successful implementation of SA: Ready to Work. Partnering with agencies, training and education providers in addressing the workforce needs of large, mid-size and small employers will improve the quality of life for our residents and be an added dimension to our economic development efforts.” said City Manager Erik Walsh. “I’d also like to thank Assistant City Manager Alex Lopez, Tina Reck-Guerra and Heber Lefgren for their leadership of the workforce development effort during this national recruitment process.”

Ramsey served as the Dean of Workforce Development at St. Petersburg College in Florida. He has served as the administrator for the Workforce and Career and Technical Education programs of the college and successfully promoted community and business partnerships to meet employment needs.
He served previously as the Director of Workforce & Continuing Education for Hillsborough County Schools where he oversaw workforce training programs for the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County Fire Departments, as well as numerous Career Source Florida Quick Response Trainings representing nearly $30 Million dollars’ worth of training annually. Ramsey is also a United States Navy Veteran and has a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Arts from Thomas Edison State College.
