As the pandemic prolongs and the federal eviction moratorium expired - I saw a need, and wanted to take action to assist families dealing with financial burdens that has risen as a result of the public health and economic crisis.

With no Federal rent protections in place, it is unclear whether Congress will offer future aid, so we as a city have stepped up to continue to provide emergency housing assistance.

As a result of both Federal and Statewide evictions bans either expired or will soon expire. I have redirected funds from my District budget to assist approximately 50 households in District 3.

I invite my Council Colleagues to do the same and take from there City Council budgets to provide continued housing support.
