San Antonio Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales’ Statement Regarding Her Amendment To The FY 2021 HUD Action Plan And Budget

SAN ANTONIO–Today, during the City Council’s A Session, Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales proposed and gained council support for an amendment to Item 14 - an Ordinance approving Substantial Amendment to the FY 2021 HUD Action Plan and Budget.

This is her statement regarding the outcome:

“Today’s announcement of $46 million coming to San Antonio from the Federal Government for rental assistance is a game-changer. We have resources now to do both rental assistance without losing momentum on affordable housing development. In District 5 we need the type of community-based housing development that keeps families in decent living conditions in their own neighborhood while addressing the emergency need for renters to stay in place and landlords to remain financially afloat.”
