SAN ANTONIO (December 23, 2020) — Today, Councilwoman Rebecca Viagran and the District 3 team partnered with two senior centers to distribute 200 poinsettias to seniors for some holiday cheer. Poinsettias were given out along with food distribution at the South Side Lions Senior Center and to Our Lady of Angels senior center. This was a drive through event and all participants followed COVID-19 safety protocols.

“Today was a reminder that even though we have gone through some tough times this year, there is still a reason to be grateful and full of hope,” stated Councilwoman Viagran. “It was nice to see our seniors before the holidays and bring them some holiday cheer. The poinsettias were a beautiful way to show our appreciation to them, let them know they are not alone because we are always thinking about them. They are the heart of our community. District 3 would also like to give special thanks to the San Antonio Park Police team for attending and bringing Green Santa – it was such a special treat!”

Senior Centers are temporarily closed due to the COVID pandemic and are slated to re-open in mid-January. Until then, all Senior Center members enrolled in the Senior Nutrition Program are receiving meal distributions at the senior centers during the closure. Seniors needing a meal may contact the Department of Human Services senior center nearest to them for services or call 210.207.7172.
