“As we begin to celebrate this holiday season, we must remember everyone in our community, give to those in need, and reflect on what we are thankful for,” stated Councilwoman Viagran. “So many more families are looking for help this time of year with a meal. It is our duty to provide that relief where we can. No one should experience hunger during the holidays.”

Many families and children living in our country face food insecurity and hunger daily. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 50 million people may experience food insecurity in 2020, including a potential 17 million children. Many households that experience food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs and need to rely on their local food banks and other hunger relief organizations for support.
