San Antonio: Southeast Nursing Employees Did Not Recently Work At Facilities Identified By Nursing Home

Southeast Nursing employees did not recently work at facilities identified by nursing home

SAN ANTONIO (April 3, 2020) — The investigation into other facilities where employees of the Southeast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center may have worked reveals that two hospitals previously identified did not employ any workers from Southeast in recent weeks. Methodist Specialty and Transplant Center and Baptist Emergency Hospital were included in a list provided to Metro Health by the administration of Southeast. Subsequent interviews with hospital administration resulted in a determination that no Southeast employees ever worked at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Center. Baptist Emergency Hospital has not employed a Southeast employee since early March.

“Investigations like this create an evolving understanding of the situation,” said Dr. Dawn Emerick, Director of San Antonio Metro Health. “It’s important that we communicate not only when potential exposures are believed to have occurred, but also when they haven’t. In this case, patients and staff at Methodist and Baptist need not be concerned, as the initial information provided by the nursing home has proven to be inaccurate.”

Multi-agency teams from the Emergency Operation Center continue to investigate potential exposures resulting from Southeast staff working in other facilities.
