SAN ANTONIO (November 5, 2019) — In an effort to increase access to opportunities for east side small business owners, the District 2 office has partnered with Neighborhood and Housing Services Department, Center City Development, the Development Services Department, and the Finance Department to host a Contractor & Developer Fair on November 5, 2019 from 3-5pm at the Walzem Family YMCA.

The program will share information with contractors and developers about the City’s rehabilitation programs, available City incentives, and upcoming opportunities to participate.

“This fair will provide a unique opportunity for District 2 residents to gain access to opportunities that haven’t always been readily available. Sharing this information is the key,” said Councilwoman Jada Andrews-Sullivan.

“The affordable housing issues that San Antonio faces can’t be addressed by the City alone, so we rely on our community partners to help reach our community housing goals and our community partners include contracting companies that can undertake needed repairs for homeowners. So, letting small contractors know about available resources and programs where they can participate will help our community close the gap on needed repairs for our aging housing stock. We know we need to preserve existing homes and our existing affordable housing stock so this workshop informs more local partners in the construction trades who are needed to address the local housing need,” said Veronica Soto, Director of the Neighborhood and Housing Services Department.

Presentation topics will include: Housing Rehabilitation Programs, Available City Incentives, Fee Waivers & Impact Fees, the Permitting Process, City Infill Development, the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP), and the City Procurement Process.
