Something happened on an unremarkable day just before the season changed. Everybody who was OUTSIDE….went INSIDE.

And so begins Outside, Inside by LeUyen Pham, a beautifully illustrated picture book looking back over the first year of the pandemic. The illustrations, based on real people and situations the author observed, allow readers to reflect and remember, as well as peek into the lives of those they might not have considered before--families of all kinds, from different countries and circumstances. Capturing the hardships and joys of staying home or going to work, Pham takes a complex time in our lives and gives us a simple story of community, sacrifice, and hope.
