Good morning, San Antonio! Here's everything you need to know to get this Thursday started off right.

Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:
- "Once upon a time" a little girl dreamed of writing a book. That dream finally came true for Skylar Crocker, a 6-year-old published author from San Antonio. "The Cole Elementary School student is the youngest child of Tony and Ashley Crocker and the author of 'A Sky Full of Emotions,' a book published in June which encourages kids to express their emotions." Her mother says that when Skylar told her about her dream, she wasn't sure "how feasible a book by a young author would be." Her doubts soon disappeared when Kim Green, a family friend who had been an editor in the publishing industry, "assured her that she could make Skylar's dream happen." Together she and Skylar worked for months meeting via Facetime and sharing Skylar's "journal entries for book inspiration" and when she finally held her book in her little hands, she beamed with pride as she signed copies for her school principal, Tod Kuenning. Skylar's dream had come true! (Laredo Morning Times)
- If you want to get fit and healthy but just can't find the time, well now is your chance! The Union-Fitness and Fun is offering a week of unlimited fitness classes at all three of its San Antonio locations. For $25, new members can get access to every class, location, and available time slot for one whole week. Steve Falk, co-owner of The Union, says "We all desire better fitness, better health, and better lifestyles. This introductory special is the perfect way for San Antonians to explore all the different ways to achieve these things." (Subscription: Brenham Banner Press)
- San Antonio rocker, Chris Perez, has an important message regarding "man's best friend." The guitarist who was married to late singer, Selena Quintanilla, and who played in her iconic Tejano band "stars in a public service announcement by PETA reminding people that animals can quickly die of heat stroke." In the video released Sept. 28, he uses his bass guitar to smash a window to save a dog and says "that connection I feel with dogs is something special to me. I consider them as part of the family." The video encourages viewers to adopt an animal instead of buying one, and it informs good Samaritans on what to actually do in case of an animal emergency. (mySA)
- Coffee and art lovers will enjoy drinking a hot cup of coffee while admiring works of art. Yuli Chang, owner of Curator Coffee, uses her "creativity in coffee and art" to deliver that presentation to coffee and art lovers alike. Originally from Taiwan, she moved to San Antonio in 2019 to earn a degree in finance from UTSA, and soon after she got a job at a local firm as an analyst. She soon realized that her passion was coffee, "so in 2020 she sold her house and car and invested everything into Curator Coffee." Although very new, Curator Coffee is becoming a popular spot, as it also includes a cafe and a "gallery space where Chang displays and sells the work of local ceramic artists" as well as her own works of art.
