Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:

  1. If you're dining solo tonight, why not "go out and explore San Antonio's food scene" instead of sitting home alone? There are various local places that "offer top-notch food" and at the same time, they "welcome single diners!" Take time for yourself tonight and check out "27 best places in San Antonio to eat when you're alone" here: (San Antonio Current)
  2. If you're "feeling under the weather," H-E-B has got you covered. On Thursday, May 12, "the San Antonio-based grocery chain officially introduced H-E-B Wellness, a comprehensive health solution to help Texans live their healthiest lives." The clinics for patients 12 and over offer services such as "physical therapy, health and nutrition coaching, specialty care, and lab tests." Although they don't take health insurance, their prices are very affordable, and they offer "the option of monthly subscriptions." For more visit: (culturemap.com)
  3. The local Early Bird Coffee trailer will soon have a permanent home! This summer, "the Airstream-trailer housed coffee joint" will open "a brick-and-mortar shop" at 11745 Interstate Highway 10, Suite 527, in the Huebner Oaks Shopping Center. Until then, they "will continue serving from their trailer... during weekend farmer's markets at Huebner Oaks." For more details visit: (San Antonio Current)
  4. On Thursday, May 5, a chicken "on the run" crossed "the road twice" on Highway 281 and I-35 interchange. During the incident, police officers blocked traffic "to keep everyone safe" while "the loose chicken" was captured. According to San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS), the chicken, who was named Rock-a-doodle by ACS officials, was on "an 'eggstraordinary' journey to find his forever home." If you're interested in adopting Rock-a-doodle, contact the ACS adoptions team at acsadoptions@sanantonio.gov. (KSAT San Antonio)
  5. On Thursday, May 12, "several south Texas nonprofits" honored "10 local military veterans... in a big way" to thank them for their service. The local nonprofits, in partnership with USAA and Caliber Collision, gifted the veterans with cars "as part of the National Autobody Council's Recycled Rides Program." Ramon Lopez, vice president of Insurance Claims at USAA, said, "Our mission is to protect the financial services of military families. So, it's important that we just show and demonstrate just how critical that is to us. And so not a better program to doing this for those who don't have vehicles to get around in." (KENS5.com)
