Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:

  1. San Antonio Spurs' Devin Vassell and Jock Landaleis, Spurs rookie center, are partnering with 'Operation Warm' to help keep children from Jackson-Keller Elementary warm during the cold winter months. They are asking everyone to please "help reach 'Operation Warm's' coat drive goal of $1,000." Donations start at $25 and are non-refundable, and "the money raised will go to brand new coats for the kids." For more details, please visit: (KENS5.com)
  2. On Thursday, Feb. 3, the McNay Art Museum at 6000 N. New Braunfels Ave. will host a 6:30 p.m. free screening of the movie musical, "In the Heights." "The film is directed by Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians) and written by playwright Quiara Alegría Hudes" and is about "a group of Washington Heights residents living their lives in Upper Manhattan." For more details, visit: (San Antonio Current)
  3. Something new is brewing at The Rim in San Antonio! Kaffeinated, located at 17619 La Cantera Parkway, Suite 209 opened on Friday, Jan. 28, and is the "newest crêpe and coffee spot in town." The menu features sweet and savory crêpes, waffles, salads and chocolate dips, as well as hot and cold coffees and milkshakes. The decor is also pretty sweet, with "vibrant splashes of pink, purple and gold and marble-topped tables nestled under a canopy of hanging silk Wisteria vine." Why won't you take a java break and visit the venue, now open daily from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. For more details, visit: (San Antonio Current)
  4. When her career began to take a toll on her health, Shannon Hernandez decided it was time for a change, so she left her job as a health and wellness manager at H-E-B and became a contract communications consultant and got certified as a health and wellness coach. Hernandez said, "I loved my job, the company, and the culture, but it wasn't healthy for me... I was missing out on important years with my daughters, and the guilt from that was tearing me up." Her new routine begins with exercise, which according to her, "allows her to clear her mind and set the tone for the rest of her day." It then shifts to creating time blocks to stay focused and "be mindful of how long a task actually takes and makes it easy to see when you are overcommitting yourself." Finally, she learns to say no. By this she means that she prioritizes herself and doesn't take on more than she can handle. On Saturday, Feb. 19, starting at 9 a.m., Hernandez will teach you about "prioritizing health over hustle" during her seminar at San Antonio Magazine's Sweat event at La Cantera Resort & Spa, located at 16641 La Cantera Parkway. Tickets can be purchased online for $15 (plus a $2.50 fee), or you can pay with cash or with card at the door for $20. "Please note that in accordance with San Antonio Magazine health policies and regulations, all event attendees must show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test. This does not reflect any policy in place at La Cantera Resort & Spa." For more information, contact Macaulay Hammond at events@sanantoniomag.com and visit: (San Antonio Magazine)
