Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:

  1. If you stroll down the San Antonio River Walk this holiday, you'll probably see a huge, cloaked structure near the GoRio barge cruise ticket booth. Although you won't be able to see entirely what's under the large tarps, you'll probably get a sneak peak, as a large arm holding a star can be seen poking out of the wraps. According to the city's arts and culture website, the massive shape is actually a sculpture of a "stylized figurative seated woman that holds, and gazes upon, a small star-like object that is held between its fingers." The sculpture called "Stargazer" was created by Mexican artist Pedro Reyes, but we won't be able to see it all until spring 2022, when the grand reveal is set to occur. (mySanAntonio.com)
  2. There's a new colorful mural downtown that's just as festive as San Antonio is! The work of art, which took 6 weeks to complete, was created by artist Allison Gregory who said, "My work is all about color and joy and I think this pretty much says it all. This just makes it appear to be the festive city that it is." For an interactive map of other murals in town, click HERE and to watch an interview with the artist, visit: (foxsanantonio.com)
  3. The Box Street Social, a popular San Antonio food truck eatery, now has a restaurant called Box Street All Day. Located downtown at the Hemisfair, the venue "features rattan furniture, lush plants, pops of pink, and even Instagram-worthy murals painted by local artist Cassidy Fritts." It also has a "dog-friendly patio" and "stunning views of the Tower of the Americas and Yanaguana Park." Breakfast, lunch and dinner menu items include "milk bread French toast, morning buns, classic burger, spicy crab-stuffed avocado, lamb shank curry, and steak and frites." The restaurant opens Thursday - Monday, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., but you can book evening holiday parties and private events. To make your reservations, call 210-920-1602 or reserve via OpenTable here. 4. After two years of cancellations and postponements of local festivals and events due to COVID-19, San Antonio looks forward to getting back to a normal schedule of celebrations in 2022. Whether you're from San Antonio or just visiting, there are so many "things to do on the calendar next year in the Alamo City!" For a list of some of those events, including dates and details, visit: (KSAT San Antonio)
  5. The former Sears store at South Park Mall will soon be converted into "a gym and a family entertainment center" and the "construction to convert the store into two tenant spaces is expected to start this month and wrap up in February, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation." The second phase of the construction process in that area is expected to be finished by December 2022. For more information and details on this project, please visit: (mySA)
