Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:
- On Thursday, Jan. 27, The University of Texas at San Antonio and the Department of Defense's (DOD) Diversity Management Operations Center will be hosting "Taking the Pentagon to the People" (TTPTTP) -- a free, virtual conference for students, faculty and staff from all educational institutions. TTPTTP provides students with career and development opportunities with DoD and other government personnel, including "employment, internships and scholarships for highly competitive students." It "also provides information to faculty members about research, fellowships, sabbaticals, personnel exchanges and small business opportunities." Faculty and staff who attend will be able to network with DoD representatives and find out "how the agency can support their recruitment, teaching and research activities." The conference will open with the Presentation of Colors and the National Anthem by UTSA's ROTC members. "UTSA President Taylor Eighmy will provide welcome remarks and will be a featured speaker of the opening plenary session, and Charmane Johnson, associate director of Equal Employment Opportunity with the DoD's Diversity Management Operations Center, will moderate the opening program." - With thousands of new cases daily of COVID-19 in San Antonio, health officials are warning the community that the city "could move into the critical risk zone." For that reason, COVID-19 testing sites were expanded and on Sunday, people were able to get tested for COVID-19 from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Alamodome, located at 100 Montana St. The Alamodome drive-thru site will be open Wednesday through Friday, from Noon- 8 p.m. for COVID-19 vaccines, and "the testing site will now be open daily with test results returning within 48 hours" until Friday, Feb. 4. However, it will not be open January 28-30 "due to previously scheduled events." Mayor Ron Nirenberg said, "We know that there are still long lines because there are a lot of folks seeking to get tested. And the wait times are exceeding many of our patient's levels at the test site. So, we're doing all that we can to help alleviate those challenges." To get tested for COVID-19 at the Alamodome, please sign up through this link or call 1-800-635-8611. (FOX 29)

Hack, is selling a $3.5 million mansion with features such as "a columned atrium with dual grand pianos, a six-car garage, a tiki bar and a pool ringed with palm trees, both real and artificial." The house was built in 2007 and has 5 bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms, and it sits on 11 acres of land. It also has a "standalone private gym, a 2,400-square-foot guest home and a metal barn." - North-Carolina based Bojangles will be opening up 3 locations in San Antonio within the next several years. The famous fried-chicken-and-biscuits "franchise restaurants will be operated by Copacetic Group." The goal is to open "a total of about 50 restaurants in the coming years in the San Antonio, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Houston areas — its initial push into the Lone Star State. The company sees the potential for more than 100 locations in Texas over the next 7 to 10 years." Jose Costa, Chief Growth Officer for Bojangles, said "We know guests in Texas are going to love the Southern flavor of Bojangles, and we look forward to working with our new franchisees to open these restaurants, as well as to seeding the market with corporate stores to quickly expand our footprint.
