Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:
- This past weekend, school police chiefs from all over Texas met in San Antonio "for an annual safety conference" to discuss "mental health and threat assessment in schools." Due to this year's recent shooting tragedy in Uvalde, officials participating in the conference focused on making "school premises safe and comfortable." For more details visit: (WOAI)
- This year, from August 4-7, Celebrity Fan Fest will host the "SuperHero Car Show and Comic-Con at the Freeman Expo Hall, located at 3201 E Houston St. Among the many guests will be former San Antonio Spurs player, Tony Parker, who will be there on Sunday, Aug. 7" to take pictures and sign autographs" for his fans. His collection of "life-size statues of various figures from the DC and Marvel cinematic universes" will also be on exhibit from June 10-Sept. 4 at the San Antonio Museum of Art, located at 200 West Jones Ave. (mySA)
- Jarvis Henderson is only seven years old, but already he has been facing "a monumental task," and he is about to complete it. The young boy is "beating cancer" and "is finally nearing the end of his treatment." To celebrate this major accomplishment, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society nonprofit, along with various "San Antonio businesses," held a parade for Jarvis on Saturday, June 11. - San Antonio's west side "is undergoing a transformation that is expected to revitalize the area." On Friday, June 10, "Bexar County officials and the San Antonio River Authority ... unveiled the next steps of the highly-anticipated San Pedro Creek Culture Park." Justin Rodriguez, Bexar County Pct. 2 Commissioner, said, "It's about 80% complete, but this is the San Pedro Creek project, phase one, so it's kind of the heart of the project through downtown." - A crash that occurred on the northwest side of San Antonio sent a driver "to the hospital" on Sunday, June 12. The accident occurred on I-10 and Callaghan Road and involved "the driver of a sedan" who "was speeding and slammed into another white car that caused the driver of the white car to crash into an SUV."
