Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:

  1. In honor of Veterans Day, which is Thursday, Nov. 11, Aspen Dental will offer free dental care for military veterans and their spouses or significant others on Saturday, Nov. 6. The event known as Day of Service will be offered free of charge at select Aspen Dental locations. According to a spokesperson from Aspen Dental, services "will focus on treating the most urgent dental needs to help get veterans out of pain, from fillings and extractions to hygiene and basic denture repairs."   2. Thanksgiving is almost here, "and thousands of retail workers and shoppers will be able to enjoy the holiday this year," which means several businesses will be closed on Nov. 25. Although a few places will be open, some of them will have limited hours and "for many of the largest store chains, Black Friday will actually begin on Friday this year."   3. Chipotle burrito chain opened two new San Antonio stores with drive-thru Chipotlanes that allows diners to pick up their orders without leaving their cars! One venue is located at 2741 S.W. Military Dr. on the Southside. The other restaurant is located on the Northeast, at 6302 FM 78. Both locations are open daily from 10:45 a.m.-10 p.m. A third Chipotlane location is set to open in the coming months at 3155 S.E. Military Dr. in Southeast San Antonio. (San Antonio Current)
  4. The Masked Singer is coming to town as part of a national tour, on July 12, 2022 at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. "The Fox series guessing-game competition that features costumed celebrities belting out their best (and sometimes worst) renditions of popular songs" is considered one of America's favorite song-and-dance reality shows. Tickets can be purchased through the Tobin Center website. VIP packages that "include meet-and-greet opportunities with the cast, exclusive merch, and photo opportunities" are available through VIPNation.com. (culturemap.com)
  5. Austin-based Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group announced plans to bring Ladino, a Mediterraean grill, into the San Antonio food scene. Executive Chef Berty Richter said, "I've been wanting to create a concept like this and share my vision of Mediterranean cuisine, influenced by my Sephardic roots and traditions, and tell a story that has never been told through food here in Texas." The new eatery will feature a wood-burning oven to prepare freshly made pita and a charcoal grill to roast meats and vegetables. Located at the Pearl, next to the Full Goods building at 200 E. Grayson St., Suite 100, the restaurant is scheduled to open in summer 2022. (Austin Business Journal)
