2-Car Wreck In South Austin Sends 3 People To Hospital

Crash along 4000 block of SH 71 Tuesday evening left man in his 70s and one in his 20s with critical injuires; another victim seriously hurt

SOUTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — Three people were hospitalized with serious injuries after a two-vehicle collision in southeast Austin on Tuesday night.

The wreck occurred along the 4000 block of East SH 71 service road just before 7 p.m., Austin-Travis County EMS medics said via Twitter. Three patients who were pinned to the vehicle were rushed to St. David's South Austin Medical Center. Among the victims is a man in his 70s and another in his 20s who sustained critical injuries and a man in his 30s whose injuries were deemed serious.

It's unclear what may have caused the crash, but roads throughout the Austin area were slick after heavy rain that fell on Austin all day Tuesday. No further details were provided.
