Annual Festival Kickoff's Austin's Celebration of MLK Day
Austin Area Heritage Council set to host annual festival and a march to kick off the day's celebration of MLK Day.

AUSTIN, TX -- The Austin Area Heritage Council will host the Austin MLK Annual Festival celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, Jan. 15 beginning at 9 AM. The event is a commemoration of the legacy of Dr. King and serves as a way to highlight Austin's diversity and multiculturalism. The Community March will begin at the MLK Statue at the University of Texas campus and will include a short program to kick-off the celebration.
Participants will continue marching to the south steps of the State Capitol for a short program and will conclude at Huston-Tillotson University, where the MLK Community Festival will get underway. The festival will include great activities for all ages and will include vendors and local musical artists to make this year's celebration a memorable one.
This year's march asks attendees to help support the Central Texas Food Bank by donating can goods or non-perishable food items which will be donated to the food bank. For questions and information, please contact Carol Wright by email or by telephone at (512) 657-3064, or click HERE.
