Arrest Made In Connection To Robbery Of Elderly Person Outside HEB Store

David Russell, 26, was arrested in Waco after police sent a bulletin asking for help from the public in identifying the suspect.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police have made an arrest in connection to an elderly person who was robbed in the parking lot of an HEB store, officials said on Friday.

The long arm of the law reached into Waco, Texas, on Thursday in arresting David Russell, 26, for the local robbery. He was arrested in connection to a June 12 incident during which an elderly customer was robbed in the parking lot of the HEB grocery store at 2400 S. Congress Ave., police previously said.

The unidentified victim sustained minor injuries during the incident, police said. Russell has since been charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.

It's unclear how police came to find Russell in Waco, a city just over 100 miles north of Austin. But earlier, police asked for the public's assistance in locating the suspect. The Austin Police Department released Russell's booking photo, seen above.
