Austin-Area Blood Donors Get Free Ice Cream Through August

AUSTIN, TX — Give a pint of blood, get a pint of ice cream.

That's the premise behind the latest We Are Blood promotion to encourage donations. Through Aug. 14, donors coming in to any We Are Blood donation site or mobile drive will receive a free pint of Blue Bell ice cream (perfect in this summer heat). The treats are handed out on the spot at donation sites, while coupons redeemable for the frozen treat are given out at mobile drives.

Additionally, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Pint for Pint promotion, We Are Blood will be hosting a social media giveaway where participants will have the opportunity to win a blue YETI Tundra 65 cooler filled with 20 points of Blue Bell Ice Cream.

"To participate, visit We Are Blood’s social media channels and, using the hasthag #weareblood, share why donating and having a local blood bank is important to the Austin community," officials wrote.
