Austin Gas Station Murder Victim Identified
The victim was identified as Eric D. Sorrells Jr., 27,

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX - The victim of a suspected murder that took place in Southeast Austin Saturday has been identified.
On December 12, 2015, at 1:42 a.m. police received a call about a vehicle disturbance in the 4700 block of U.S. 183, and found a body upon arrival. police said. The victim was identified as Eric D. Sorrells Jr., 27.
The 911 caller said they were following a stolen car. When they arrived at the scene, police found Sorrel’s body on the ground. The American-Statesman reported the incident occurred at an Exxon gas station. No one else was on the scene when officers arrived.

APD and Austin/Travis County EMS attempted life saving measures on the victim, but were unsuccessful.
A person of interest is in custody at the Travis County Jail, he was brought in on unrelated charges.

An autopsy was performed by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office and the cause of death was ruled homicide.
