Austin Police ID Pedestrian Killed While Standing In Road
For unknown reasons, Jasper Bailey, 34, was dressed all in black while standing in road at night last Friday when he was struck by 2 cars.

AUSTIN, TX β Police identified the pedestrian killed after being hit by two cars on Friday when he stood in the middle of the road at nighttime wearing all-black clothing.
The incident occurred on Friday, Oct. 27, at 9 p.m. along the 3400 block of South Lamar Boulevard. According to a police investigation, a white Toyota RAV4 was driving southbound in the center turn lane while a white Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling northbound in the left lane of the street.
The Toyota struck the pedestrian, who was clad entirely in black clothing while standing in the center turn lane, police said. The impact propelled the pedestrian onto the Chevrolet as it passed in the left northbound lane, police added.

Both drivers stopped immediately, called 911 and remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation, police noted. The pedestrian, meanwhile, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Jasper Bailey, who was 34 years of age.

Police noted the incident marked Austinβs 54th fatal traffic crash of 2017. At this time in 2016, there were 59 fatal traffic crashes and 60 traffic fatalities, police added.
