Austin Police ID Woman Fatally Struck By Car While Sleeping Under I-35 Overpass
Delta Olin, 49, was killed after a two-car collision caused a van to lose control, breach the raised curb and strike her while she slept.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday identified the women killed while sleeping under an Interstate 35 overpass after a two-vehicle crash in South Austin earlier this month.
On Oct. 12 at 8:35 a.m. along East Cesar Chavez at the northbound Interstate 35 ramp, a 1999 Ford van and a 2016 Volkswagen station wagon were both traveling northbound along the 100 block of the east frontage road when they entered the intersection against a yellow light to turn left onto westbound East Cesar Chavez. As both vehicles approached, the van struck the station wagon, according to police.
The impact caused the van to veer out of control and breach the raised curb on the northwest corner, fatally striking a woman sleeping under the overpass who was later identified as Delta Olin, 49. The driver stayed at the scene until police arrived, officials said.
