Austin Transportation Crews Heading To Gulf Coast Ahead Of Storm
16 members will deploy from South Austin field office with equipment designed to assist victims of natural disaster.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — State transportation officials are mobilizing more than a dozen maintenance crew members to help with storm cleanup efforts ahead of another storm now developing along the Gulf Coast, officials said Wednesday.
Along with 16 crew members, among the equipment being mobilized on Thursday are bucket trucks, skid steers, signal trucks and dump trucks, according to a Texas Department of Transportation press advisry. Crews are expected to stay mobilized for at least four days, officials added, staging in San Antonio before deploying to the hardest-hit areas of the state, once the storm makes landfall.
The convoy is scheduled to depart TxDot's South Austin Area Office, 9725 S. Interstate 35, at 8 a.m.

"We remind drivers to obey all warning signs and watch for flooding on roadways," TxDot officials reminded the public. "Don’t drive around barricades and remember, Turn Around, Don’t Drown."
