Bank Robbery Suspect on the Loose in South Austin

A man passed a teller a note Thursday morning and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police are on the hunt for a bank robber who escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash Thursday morning.

At around 9:30 a.m. the Hispanic male allegedly passed a note to the teller at the Compass Bank branch at 2401 S Congress Ave. before getting the cash and fleeing on foot, police said. No weapon is believed to have been displayed.

The suspect is described as between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 4 inches tall with short brown hair and green eyes. He was wearing a tan baseball hat, light jacket, and white washed jeans at the time of the incident. Police captured surveillance video and images of the suspect during the robbery. The incident is still being investigated at this time.

Police say this has been the 11th bank robbery in Austin this year.
