Black Friday Shoe Shopping Ends in Robbery at Gunpoint

A family was robbed while shopping for graduation shoes on black Friday.

Holiday shopping turned sour for one family when they were robbed at gunpoint in a Payless shoe store.

The family entered the store in the 6400 block of South I-85 on Nov. 27, and encountered a man wearing a black mask and holding a gun. The suspect demanded money and eventually fled, KXAN reported. It is unclear what was stolen from the victims. The suspect is described as a 5-foot-10-inch Hispanic male.

“He pulled out his gun and cocked it and started charging towards me,”a 23-year-old member of the family, who was involved in the incident but wishes to remain anonymous told KXAN.“I immediately froze and raised my hands.”

The victim told KXAN she is graduating from college this weekend and was looking for shoes to wear to the event.

“That was also something that I guess was eye-opening, when you’re supposed to celebrate something that’s supposed to be a really good time in my life, and immediately your life is threatened,” she said.
