Bodies Of Man, Young Girl Found Inside South Travis County Home

Sheriff's officials made the grisly find during a welfare check, but have released no details as to identities or cause of death.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX β€” The Travis County Sheriff's Office has released few details after the discovery of two bodies in the southwest portion of the city on Monday.

Officials at the agency confirmed the bodies of a man and young girl were found inside a home along the 8000 block of El Dorado Drive in the Granada Hills subdivision. The two were reportedly shot, but officials have not yet ruled it as a homicide case.

The grisly discovery reportedly came as a welfare check was conducted on the man and girl. Neither the identities nor ages of the victims have been released.

Neighbors told the Austin American-Statesman the dead man kept to himself without stopping to chat with others in the neighborhood. One resident found it odd the man would invariably drive his convertible into the garage and close the door.

For its part, the sheriff's office has yet to identify the victims or provide a cause of death, citing the need for an examination of the bodies by the medical examiner's office. Sheriff's office spokeswoman Kristen Dark β€” typically reliably sending off news advisories to the media in alerting to cases of this magnitude among other matters β€” has been uncharacteristically silent on the matter, only telling news outlets that the investigation is in its early phases.

Dark did allow the deaths seem to be an isolated incident without posting a threat to the public, as she told the newspaper. Patch will update as more details are made available.
