Details Released On South Austin Crash That Killed Motorcyclist
Trevor James Ralston, 32, was killed after car driver loses control and entered his path; driver charged with failure to control speed.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, just past 7 a.m., along the 1000 block of West Oltorf Street. There, the driver of a 2008 Mini Cooper traveling westbound lost control of her vehicle before sliding into the eastbound path of a gray, 2018 Honda motorcycle. Unable to avoid the careening car, the motorcycle struck the vehicle's right side, police said in a press advisory.
The motorcyclist, Trevor James Ralston, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene. According a date of birth provided by police, Ralson would have turned 33 on Feb. 18.

Police said the driver of the car remained at the scene of the crash awaiting the arrival of police. She was cited for failure to control speed, officials said.

The case continues to be investigated. Those with information are asked to contact police at (512) 974-5576. Witnesses also can submit tips by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, for free on iPhone and Android.
Police said the incident represents Austin’s sixth fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in six fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, police added, there were five fatal traffic crashes and six traffic fatalities.
