
SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Just two days before Christmas, four South Austin residents find themselves without a home after being displaced by a fire that broke out in their two-story house.
Late Wednesday, the cause of the fire in the 8800 block of Texas Sun Drive—near Ditmar and Manchaca roads—was determined to have been caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.

The Austin American-Statesman reported that two of the four residents were home when the fire broke out, but no injuries were reported.
A firefighter at the scene speculated some sections of the house could be salvaged, but is uninhabitable for the foreseeable future.
