Gas Odor Offends South Austin Residents

The smell appears to be subsiding, and will likely disappear when the fog clears.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX - The Austin Fire Department received multiple reports of a gas odor lingering in South Austin early Friday morning.

The fire department reported that the smell seems to be subsiding, and is working with TX gas to find the source. They believe it will fade completely once the fog leaves the South Austin area.

It was confirmed that the leak was not caused by a malfunction or leak in the Austin gas system. The leak appears to be outside of Austin to the south.
