Texas House District 21 Race: Chip Roy (R) Joseph Kopser (D) Win
Joseph Kopser wins handily in the Democratic race against Mary Wilson; Chip Roy bests Matt McCall in GOP with 1,500-vote margin.

UPDATE: The Associated Press late Tuesday declared Chip Roy the winner for the Republican nomination in the congressional district election for Texas House Seat 21. He now will face Democrat Joseph Kopser in the November general election.
Although the final tally was still not available at close to 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Kopser enjoyed an insurmountable lead against his challenger, Mary Wilson, for the Democratic nomination. With more than 80 percent of precincts reporting, Kopser had more than 13,000 votes to Wilson's 9,278.
Similarly, Roy had a decisive lead in the Republican race for the congressional seat. With 84 percent of all precincts reporting, Roy Led Matt McCall by more than 1,500 votes. Roy lead McCall with 17,320 votes.

AUSTIN, TX — Joseph Kopser has secured the Democratic nomination in the race to represent the 21st congressional district, as called by the Associated Press, and Chip Roy leads Matt McCall in the race for the Republican nomination.

With nearly all precincts reporting just after 10 p.m. Tuesday — 911 of 989 precincts reporting — Roy leads McCall, 17,320 votes to 15,803 votes.
Kopser held on to a sizable lead over his challenger Mary Wilson for the Democratic nomination, despte the lack of tallies from rural areas. Kopster had just over 8,000 votes to Wilson's totals of just over 5,300 votes as seen shortly after polls closed.
The U.S. House seat includes large areas of Central and South Austin.
The final tallies have yet to come in late Tuesday evening. Patch will update with final numbers as soon as they're known.
