Lightning Sparks Fire At South Austin Home
Overnight thunderstorms sparked blaze in the attic of a home along the Manchaca Road, displacing three occupants.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A lightning strike fueled by overnight storms sparked a fire in the attic of a South Austin home early Saturday, fire officials said.
The lightning-induced blaze occurred at a home along the 7337 Manchaca Rd., roughly a mile south of Williams Cannon Drive. Firefighters arrived at the scene at 12:55 a.m., extinguishing the fire 25 minutes later.
No injuries were reported, but the three adult occupants opted to stay elsewhere for the night, fire officials noted. The fire confined to the attic caused significant damage, according to firefighters.

The incident was one of several lightning strikes reported across the region late Friday and early Saturday as thunderstorms made a return to the area.
