Loop 360 Crash Sends Three To The Hospital [UPDATED]

Accident site now cleared after vehicle fell off the Loop 360 overpass near MoPac.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Traffic is flowing smoothly once more after investigators cleared the scene of an accident at the Loop 360 overpass near MoPac Wednesday morning.

Officials at Total Traffic Austin, a weather and traffic information site, tweeted the update about three hours after the collision that resulted in a traffic-clogging lane closure. The northbound left lane at the accident scene has since been reopened, officials report.

Before the accident scene was cleared, traffic had been backed up to Ben White Boulevard.

Austin-Travis County EMS officials responded to the scene shortly before 8 a.m. after a car fell off the overpass into the greenbelt below. Two adults and a child were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, EMS officials reported.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Two adults and a child have been hospitalized after the vehicle they were traveling in fell off the Loop 360 overpass near MoPac Wednesday morning, emergency officials said.

Austin-Travis County EMS officials said the three victims were transported to the University Medical Center Brackenridge trauma center and Dell Children’s Medical Center with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

Emergency officials say the 7:40 a.m. crash resulted in the car falling off the northbound lanes of Loop 360 near Texas State Highway Loop 1.

The left lane of Loop 360 is now blocked as law enforcement officials investigate the post-crash scene. Traffic is backed up starting right before MoPac all the way to Ben White Boulevard, according to traffic and weather network officials at Total Traffic Austin, who conveyed the information via Twitter.

Motorists should expect traffic delays until the scene is cleared by investigators.
