Man Accused Of Slashing 60 Tires In South Austin

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A man charged with slashing some 60 tires in South Austin early Tuesday said he did it because he wanted to return to prison, according to a published report.
Austin police were called to Lansing Drive and Enchanted Lane amid reports of a suspicious person slashing tires in the neighborhood at around 12:45 a.m. , according to a report in the Austin American-Statesman. Upon their arrival, police found Jason Travis Barclae, 30, with a backpack and knife, according to the report.
The suspect reportedly admitted to police of damaging several vehicles and setting a house on fire because he wanted to return to prison, according to the report. Fire officials received a call on. Monday about a structure fire along the 4700 block of Clawson Road.
