Man Accused Of Taking Cash, Juice From South Austin Store At Knife Point
When police caught up with suspect Thelan Delmazo, they found him already behind bars on unrelated theft charges.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Police accuse a man of flashing a knife at a Southeast Austin store during a robbery where he is alleged to have run off with cash and orange juice.
Thelan Delmazo, 26, is charged with having entered the store during a Jan. 19 robbery, asking to look at a knife in a counter display and then using it to threaten the one clerk working the shift.
The Austin American-Statesman details the frightening details, as outlined in a police affidavit.

“Do whatever I tell you,” the suspect reportedly told the clerk. “If you try to be clever or try to call the police, I can kill you because I have a knife.”
Delmazo is alleged to have demanded money at knife point, making off with cash and a handful of juices from a display.

Surveillance footage from the store’s security cameras helped police locate the suspect -- and they didn’t have to look too hard: He was already behind bars at the Travis County Jail on other, unrelated theft charges.
When presented with police evidence, Delmazo is said to have copped to the money-orange juice robbery.
He’s charged with aggravated robbery with a steep bail: $100,000 for the robbery charge and other $10,000 for theft, according to police records.
