Man Dies After Being Struck By Car In South Austin [UPDATED]
Medics say the collision occurred at the corner of West St. Elmo Road and South First Street, claiming the life of a man in his 50s.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Police have released more details on an accident that occurred Sunday night that claimed the life of a pedestrian.
The incident occurred at 9:55 p.m. at the intersection of South First and St. Elmo streets. Police said an unidentified pedestrian, a white male believed to be in his 50s, was tryhing to cross the street but fell down twice. The driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe did not see the pedestrian until the last moment, tried to stop but was unable to avoid hitting him.
Police note the driver of the Tahoe remained at the scene, and no charges are expected to be filed in what appears to be a tragic accident. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

It's being speculated that the man wasp possibly intoxicated at the time, although toxicology reports are pending. An investigation into what may have led to his death is ongoing.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- A man lost his life Sunday night after being hit by a car in South Austin, according to emergency officials.
The incident occurred at the intersection of West St. Elmo Road and South First Street at around 10 p.m., according to a tweet by Austin-Travis County EMS. The man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.
