Man Dies In Shooting Outside South Austin Halfway House
Confrontation between two people culminates in fatal shooting, leaving man in his 40s mortally wounded.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police are investigating a fatal shooting in South Austin on Saturday night as a suspicious death.
The incident occurred at around 11:55 p.m. in the parking lot of the South Austin Marketplace, 2101 E. Ben White Blvd., a halfway house of sorts for those recently released from jail or prison, police said. Austin-Travis County EMS medics described that victim as a man in his 40s who was rushed to St. David's South Austin Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound before he died of his injuries just before 12:30 a.m.
Police a disturbance between two people at the facility culminated in the shooting. A person of interest is currently in custody in relation to the incident, police added. A police officer briefing reports after the incident said it's unclear if either of the two people involved are residents at the facility, but both knew each other prior to the shooting.
