Man Dies In Southwest Austin After Running Into Utility Pole
It's unclear what led to the man in his 30s to slam into the pole located along the 5700 block of South MoPac Expressway.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- A man died after slamming into a utility pole early Saturday, according to media reports.
A man believed to be in his 30s died after crashing into the pole along the 5700 block of South MoPac Expressway at about 4 a.m. The site is near Sunset Valley in Southwest Austin, CBS Austin noted in its report.
Police are investigating whether alcohol consumption might have played a role in the man's death.

The incident marked the second time in a span of mere days that someone died after running into a pole.
On Oct. 12, Gerardo Martinez Gonzalez, 30, died in the 6700 block of Metropolis Drive Oct. 12 as he drove a black 2010 Ford F-150 southbound at a high rate of speed, according to police. An investigation showed that Gonzalez failed to negotiate a right curve in the road when the vehicle struck a guardrail and then utility pole along the east curb line.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. Identification of the man who died in the most recent traffic accident is pending.
