SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A driver perished Saturday evening after a two-vehicle pin-in collision in South Austin, emergency officials said.

The accident occurred some 20 minutes before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Felter Lane and Burleson Road, near the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, according to Austin-Travis County EMS officials. Fire Department crews had to extricate a person from a vehicle with the jaws of life, EMS medics noted in a tweet.

A man in his 20s who had been pinned to the vehicle died later at St. David's South Austin Medical Center after succumbing to his injuries, police officials told the Austin American-Statesman. The other driver, a female victim, was transported to the hospital but with non-life-threatening injuries.
