Man Kidnapped, Robbed By Six Suspects While Getting Gas In South Austin

The victim was forced to drive to a remote area and robbed of his possessions after bring roughed up.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A man was kidnapped at gunpoint last month while getting gas in South Austin before being robbed by six people, police said.

Referencing an newly released arrest affidavit, the Austin American-Statesman reported the man was pumping gas at at Texaco gas station at 1801 E. Stassney Lane near Interstate 35 when he was held at gunpoint on Jan. 16. The man told police he was traveling back to Austin from working in San Marcos, the newspaper reported.

Two vehicles pulled up, blocking him from the front and back, according to the affidavit. Six people ranging in ages from their teens into the 20s exited the vehicles and surrounded the victim, the newspaper reported. One of the men, Marco Antonio Porcayo, 22, retrieved a gun from his pocket at pointed it at the victim, according to the affidavit.

The victim was forced into his truck while two of the suspects got into the back seat of the truck. The others returned to the vehicles and followed the ruck as Porcayo instructed the victim to drive while the man was threatened with death if he failed to cooperate, the affidavit read.

The victim was forced to drive to a secluded portion of the Onion Creek Soccer Complex on East William Cannon Drive, the affidavit read. The victim tried running away, only to be hit punched by one of the suspects later identified as Jesus Chamorro Sanches, 21.

Several of the victim's possessions were taken during the ordeal, including his Samsung Galaxy cell phone, several tools, loose change and wallet containing $24 in cash, the Statesman reported. The victim was ultimately freed, after which he promptly dialed 911 at around 5:50 p.m.

Porcayo was subsequently arrested on Wednesday, charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery. He's at the Travis County Jail under a $500,000 bond. Sanchez was arrested the same day and charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, possession of marijuana and bail jumping/failure to appear in court. He's since joined his accomplice at the Travis County Jail with a slightly bigger bail of $504,000.
