Motor Scooter Rider Dies In South Austin Crash
Medics responded to Oltorf Street at 6th Street early Wednesday where man in his 20s died after collision with vehicle.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — A person on a motorized scooter died in a collision with a vehicle on Wednesday morning in South Austin, medics said.
Austin-Travis County EMS officials reported to West Oltorf Street at 6th Street at around 7:00 a.m. amid reports of a crash between a vehicle and a motor scooter. The victim was a man in his 20s.
Medics noted the scooter in question was not one of the 14,000 or so of the two-wheeled electric versions that have flooded the market since various providers have entered the market. Instead, "It was a motorcycle type of scooter," medics said. The issue of electric scooter safety has come into focus amid mounting injuries and a recent death of a 21-year-old involving a Lime version last weekend.
