Motorist Dies After Crashing Into Highway Pillar In South Austin
The victim, a male in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency first responders.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX —A motorist was killed Wednesday morning on eastbound U.S. 290 after slamming into a pillar, officials said.
The collision occurred at around 5:45 a.m. near the 300 block of W. Ben White Boulevard between First Street and Congress Avenue, according to police. Officials with the Austin-Travis County EMS said the victim a man in his 40s, was dead at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision, officials said. The right lane of eastbound Ben White was closed for several hours Wednesday morning as officials investigated the scene.
