One Dead, Five Injured In Three-Car South Austin Wreck

A man in his 20s dead at the scene, two injured seriously and three others hospitalized in Manchaca crash that occurred just after noon.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- A man is dead and five other injured after a crash in South Austin on Wednesday.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, a three-vehicle crash happened just after the noon hour in the 10200 block of Manchaca, just south of Slaughter Lane.

A man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene, according to medics. Another man, also believed to be in his 20s, and a woman in her 40s were taken to St. David's South Austin Medical Center, according to EMS officials. The man sustained potentially serious injuries, while the woman's injuries were categorized as critical.

Three other people involved in the crash also were taken to South Austin Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Manchaca is currently closed at Slaughter Lane as police investigate the scene and crews clean the roadway of crash debris. Motorists are urged to seek alternative routes to and from their destinations.
