Motorists to be detoured while crews install concrete beams for new pedestrian/bike bridge.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Motorists normally taking Loop 1 as part of their daily commute are in for some serious detour maneuvers starting this Sunday.

Officials said the road closures are necessary to protect workers and motorists as cranes are hoisted to install concrete beams for the new bridge.
The closure could be extended if needed, TxDot officials added.
Temporary road signs will be installed to alert motorists of the closure. TxDot officials urge drivers to allow extra time or travel through the area during construction days.
