Pedestrian Killed In South Austin Trying To Cross Interstate 35
Man in his 30s was crossing highway near Slaughter Lane when he was struck early Wednesday before dying at the hospital.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A man was killed early Wednesday after being struck by a car as he tried crossing Interstate 35 in South Austin.
The man in his 30s was attempting to cross the highway near Slaughter Lane at around 1:15 a.m., according to Austin-Travis County EMS medics. The collision occurred along the 9100 block of I-35 South.
Medics attempted to apply life-saving techniques to resuscitate the man, but he was later pronounced dead upon arrival at St. David's Medical Center, officials said.

According to police, the driver remained on the scene until emergency crews arrived to cooperate in detectives' investigation and was not expected to face charges. Police were prompted to close the northbound lanes of I-35 for several hours before the artery was re-opened some three hours later at around 4 a.m.
