Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Colliding With Car In South Austin
Man in his 20s was hit about an hour after another man in North Austin was struck by vehicle in what's become a near-daily occurrence.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Not an hour after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in North Central Austin Thursday night, another person on foot was struck on the other side of town in Southeast Austin.
Austin-Travis County EMS officials said a man in his 20s was hit at 1112 Vasquez St., near East Riverside Drive, at about 10 a.m. The man was transported to University Medical Center-Brackenridge with injuries deemed serious but not life-threatening.
The call came in at 10:04 p.m. -- minutes after another man was struck by a vehicle in North Central Austin. The man in that collision, in his 50s, also was seriously injured but expected to survive.

The older was hit at 5819 Burnet Rd.
Incidents of cars hitting pedestrians seem to be on the rise amid bolstered traffic -- becoming an almost-daily occurrence. It's not unusual to have more than one "auto versus pedestrian" incident (as dubbed by EMS officials in their tweeted missives) as was the case last night.
