Police Find 65 Pounds Of Liquid Meth Worth $2.6M During Routine Traffic Stop In South Austin
Maria Bermudez Gutierrez, 45, is currently in federal custody after police grew suspicious when she acted nervously.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Wednesday disclosed they discovered 65 pounds of liquid methamphetamine hidden inside a gas tank during a routine traffic stop earlier this week.
Sgt. Greg White told reporters a woman driving a 2004 Ford Escape was pulled over while traveling along Interstate 35 in South Austin on Monday after the driver failed to maintain inside the lane. A search of the vehicle was prompted after police discerned discrepancies in the woman's story.
That's when police discovered the crystallized liquid meth in the gas tank. The seized drugs are valued at $2.6 million on the open market, police said. The sergeant said it's believed the woman was en route to Dallas. The motorist, identified as 45-year-old Maria Bermudez Gutierrez is currently in federal custody.
